Several countries encountered notable wind speed anomalies this past March 2024

Spain experienced high wind speed anomalies across most of its territory, save for select regions in the northeast where conditions remained relatively tempered. Meanwhile, in Paraguay, wind parks celebrated robust returns, with anomaly values surpassing 15%, highlighting the country’s wind energy prowess. Similarly, the Democratic Republic of Congo observed notable anomalies, although pockets of calm prevailed in certain southern and western areas.

Conversely, Sweden, Panama, and Bangladesh encountered a contrasting scenario, characterized by subdued wind activity. Sweden experienced a pronounced decline in wind speed anomalies, plummeting to -15%, with only the southern region experiencing a mild breeze. Likewise, Panama grappled with exceptionally low anomalies across its entire landscape, reflecting a tranquil environment devoid of gusty conditions. In Bangladesh, save for specific areas in the north and east, the anomaly remained notably subdued, accentuating a sense of stillness in the air.

Q1 2024 MOST PROMINENT ANOMALIES

As we assess the mean values over the first quarter of 2024, we continue to observe significant wind speed anomalies in some of these countries. The southern half of Spain, in particular, experienced consistently strong winds, with positive anomalies around 15%. Similarly, the Democratic Republic of Congo maintained a high anomaly in its western regions during the first months of the year.
